Application for Action on an Approved Application or Petition

Form I-824 is used to request further action on a previously approved petition or application.

When can an individual File Form I-824?

Form I-824 should be filed to request a duplicate approval notice or to request that a U.S. Consulate abroad be notified of the approval of a petition. This form may also be used by a permanent residence to request that a U.S. Consulate abroad be notified that an individual’s status has been adjusted to permanent resident so that the individual’s spouse and dependent children can apply for immigrant visas.
