Did You Know? FY2013 H-1Bs are going fast – apply soon!
April 13, 2012Get your new H-1B petitions filed quickly! As many of you may know, the annual cap on the H-1B category of visa opened on April 2, 2012. As of April 9th, 2012, the USCIS reports that petitions for cap-subject H-1Bs have been pouring in:
“USCIS has received approximately 17,400 H-1B petitions counting toward the 65,000 cap, and approximately 8,200 petitions toward the 20,000 cap exemption for individuals with advanced degrees.”
This rapid influx of petitions represents roughly 30% of all available H-1Bs for FY2013. At this point last year, the USCIS had received only 10,400 petitions, or about 12% of the total available. It is fully expected that the cap will be reached far earlier this year than in years past. According to Stuart Anderson, executive director of the National Foundation for American Policy, an Arlington, VA, group that studies the H-1 program:
“Given the improved economy…it would not be surprising to see the quota filled very early this year.”
Given industry expectations, VISANOW strongly recommends that any known cap-subject H-1Bs for the upcoming year be filed as soon as possible. Don’t be left out – get your new H-1Bs started today!
