Online registration for the 2018 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery program begins Oct. 4 and ends Nov. 7. Each year, this unique visa program grants permanent residency to 50,000 people at random from countries that historically have low rates of immigration.

In order to qualify for the visa, the primary applicant (not including dependents) must have a high school education or two years of qualifying work experience. Individuals currently being sponsored for a green card through a family- or employment based petition may still apply. The list of eligible countries includes: Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Japan, Cambodia, Serbia and Norway.
