VISANOW Shares Crucial
Requirements for Successful
Electronic Transition of Immigration
Process
Input of Service Providers and Employers Critical for “Paperless” Overhaul
of Outdated System
CHICAGO, IL
November 18, 2008 –
Following the recent announcement by
the Department of Homeland Security
(DHS) that the organization will
introduce a major electronic
overhaul of the nation’s immigration
services agency, VISANOW, the
industry’s leading electronic-based
immigration service provider, has
highlighted the critical components
required for a successful transition
along with the potential impact on
HR departments.
The new program will overhaul the
government’s management of
approximately 7 million visas and
green cards. Through this proposal,
the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration
Services' (USCIS) case-management
system will convert from paper-based
to electronic, reducing backlogs and
processing delays by up to 50
percent.
“Many of the challenges within the
current U.S. immigration system are
well documented, with significant
processing delays and overwhelming
backlogs causing major frustrations
for both employers and individual
applicants,” commented Robert
Meltzer, CEO of VISANOW. “The
benefits of an electronic process
are extensive. For immigration
providers currently leveraging
technology, the new system will
allow for further transformation of
an antiquated application filing
process.”
Involving
all Stakeholders
For the revised system to reach
maximum efficiency, input of all
stakeholders involved in the
immigration process is essential.
U.S. immigration service providers
and electronic immigration software
vendors must participate in the new
system’s development to ensure a
seamless process and further promote
technology within the USCIS and
Department of Labor (DOL) as a means
of better serving petitioners and
applicants of immigration benefits.
Significant advances have been made
in recent years with the adoption of
forms programs, case management
software and other efficiencies
within the legal services industry.
These developments have helped
service providers improve data
quality and streamline internal
processes, ultimately enhancing the
experience for HR departments and
applicants.
“To continue this progress, external
stakeholders must play a role in the
development of the electronic case
management system,” said Meltzer. “A
user-friendly interface that allows
the applicant and petitioner to
access case information should lead
to the development of a secure,
flexible system that will benefit
everyone involved while increasing
efficiencies for all parties.”
Benefits for HR Departments
The benefits of an electronic-based
system are significant for HR
departments currently challenged
with managing their immigration
process:
- The transition to a paperless
approach will allow technology-based
immigration service providers to
further improve their internal
systems and deliver even higher
levels of service and efficiencies
to employers.
- Faster application preparation,
reduced backlogs and processing
times, along with increased
transparency into the status of
applications pending with the USCIS
will deliver a more effective
process for HR departments and
foreign national applicants.
