Immigration Reform (IR) refers to the legislation pending in the U.S. Congress which
addresses a number of immigration issues, including a process for the legalization
of the millions of illegal immigrants in the U.S., a temporary worker program and
improved verification processes for employers.

Proposed legislation under the Immigration Reform would have far reaching implications
on corporations and their HR departments including additional compliance and employment
verification requirements. As a matter of fact, the U.S. government has already
been increasing their enforcement efforts for employment eligibility in late 2009,
a trend that is expected to continue until and throughout Immigration Reform.
Current U.S. immigration law generally does not provide U.S. visas or other immigration
related benefits for individuals who are currently in the U.S. and who have been
out of status (without valid visa) for more than one year. If this is your situation
